Shocked by MS Dhoni's retirement decision: Virat Kohli

India's new Test captain Virat Kohli has insisted that he would adopt a positive approach and encourage his squad to play positively and aggressively, after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's shock resignation from the long format of the game. Kohli would lead the team in the fourth and final Test starting in Sydney on Tuesday after Dhoni's announcement last week. He claimed that they were all shocked by Dhoni's decision because it was so sudden.

The star batsman claimed that there's so much to learn from Dhoni, especially in tough situations, adding that the skipper's composure, decision making at important times are things which are priceless and any captain would love to have them, Sydney Morning Herald reported. Kohli is hoping to be as calm as Dhoni, but insisted that everyone has different styles.

Kohli, who led the team in the first Test in Adelaide when Dhoni was injured, revealed that there were quite a few things that he sat down and analysed in Adelaide that can be improved on. He is hoping to get the mistakes in Adelaide right and try to make the right decisions in every situation out there in the middle. The skipper claimed that India would play positively under his leadership and stressed they wouldn't back down in the final Test of a series notable for numerous on-field spats.

Kohli said that it's important for the players to know that India needs to be in a positive frame of mind, a line doesn't need to be crossed, but added that they are not there to back down from any sort of confrontation or any sort of battle. Kohli promised that one would witness positive cricket and the same aggressive intent.  (ANI)
