England out-batted, out-bowled and out-thought by New Zealand: Alec Stewart

Former England cricket captain Alec Stewart has said that the Alastair Cook-led national squad were out-batted, out-bowled and out-thought by New Zealand during their tour of that country.
Stewart said England would do well to improve skills in all departments of the game ahead of this year's Ashes series.

He said England will look back on their winter exploits with very mixed emotions, as after a brilliant series win against India, they endured a stalemate in New Zealand.
Stewart said that if England are serious about being the best team in the world, then they will need to improve.
He added that in sport, it is important to have both long and short-term goals.
He said that he wanted the England batters to put up bigger first-innings totals to set the tone for the rest of the game.
Stewart also said that in Matt Prior,England had a genuine world-class wicketkeeper-batsman, who had an outstanding winter.
He said that he was less concerned about the bowling department.
He said that he would not be too critical of Cook's captaincy, as he was still a relative novice in so far as that responsibility was concerned. (ANI)
