Michael Vaughan says Broad's injury hell could wreck his Ashes hopes

Michael Vaughan has claimed Stuart Broad's constant injury problems could wreck his hopes of playing in the Ashes this year, and former England captain advised the fast bowler to quickly find a way out to solve this issue.

A persistent heel problem is threatening to derail Broad's Ashes summer and more if he can't find a way to not only get on the park, but excel on it too, the Daily Mirror reports.

Vaughan, who gave Broad his Test debut, believes the England Twenty20 captain would need to get psychologically fit as well even if he overcomes his physical injuries.

Vaughan said he is concerned about Broad, adding England would be worried too, adding when a player is consistently getting injuries then it becomes an issue.

The former skipper said it starts to affect a player mentally because when he goes out into the middle worrying about his knee or heel then he is not thinking about delivering his skills, adding somehow he has to get over that to be able to just perform the way he needs to instead of thinking about his heel.

Vaughan added whatever steps Broad needs to take to allow him to play he needs to do it and then get his performance right because he is around a team now that has competition for every place including his own.

Vaughan further said that Broad has a tough mountain to climb ahead since he is facing tough competition for a spot in the England team from fast bowler Graham Onions. (ANI)
