South African Cricketers' Association threatens strike

The South African Cricketers' Association has raised the possibility of taking the world's top-ranked Test team out on a "lawful strike" next month in protest over the makeup of the country's new governing board.
SACA says on Thursday, on the eve of South Africa's second Test against New Zealand, that players are opposed to Cricket South Africa's plans to expand to a 16-member board in 18 months
SACA says if CSA does not reconsider this at a meeting in February, the players' body "would be in a position to take the players out on a lawful strike over this issue."

SACA appears to have the support of leading South Africa internationals and says that its decision comes after a discussion "amongst the Proteas squad." (AP)
