Need to move on from crushing Kochi defeat: Alastair Cook

England captain Alastair Cook has said the players need to move on from their crushing defeat in the second one-day in Kochi against India, adding their sole focus currently is to focus on the third match in Ranchi.

Cook said he would urge his side not to dwell on Tuesday's ignominious 127-run defeat to India, the Telegraph reports.

Cook was keen for his players not to get carried away by their unexpected nine-run win after the first one-day international in Rajkot and will now call on his men to put the series-leveling defeat to one side in the same fashion, the paper added.

The stylish left-handed batsman said the England players need to stay calm and not let the defeat hamper their morale, and he added that players in dressing room would require talking normally after the loss just like they do after winning a game.

Cook said their defeat at Kochi has set up the series nicely at 1-1 and is expecting a tightely-fought series.

Cook also acknowledged India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's impact on the result and knows his opposite number will be a crucial figure for the remaining three matches of the series if England fail to deal with his threat. (ANI)
